The cotton referendum on December 13 will decide quota penalties and 1956 price support levels. Chairman L. L. Menke notes two thirds of votes needed for quotas and 75 to 90 percent parity support. over one third against quotas means 50 percent parity. Acreage allotments remain in effect regardless. Polls open 8 am to 6 pm at Brookshire Waller Pattison and Waller County Co op stores.

Burglars Strike Katy Lumber Yards Before Christmas

Murder charge filed in Brookshire death
Kenneth Lee Johnson a 2 year old California truck driver was charged with the murder of Francia A Hopper whose body was found near Brookshire Monday afternoon about 4 30. The complaint was filed with Justice Valerie Shearer. Hopper 39 of Greens Bayou was identified by the Missing Persons Bureau in Houston after being found in a ditch. Hopper operated the Family Budget Bureau loan business at 917 Franklin Houston. John son was arrested after a traffic ticket and was stopped by Patrolman D J Horn. Authorities investigated at the scene with County Attorney C W Kariach and Brookshire constable C F Kitzmann.
