Katy Paralysis Victim Placed in Iron Lung
Little Gladys Hoyt, 14, of Katy was placed in an iron lung at Memorial Hospital Houston after infantile paralysis paralyzed her body. Her report says she is better Wednesday. Her 8 year old brother Charles also has a mild case. Dr Hopkins reported no local outbreaks beyond Katy.

Negro worker sustains skull fracture but remains conscious
Douglas Andrews, a negro laborer on the Warren Cooper place, was struck on the head by a cotton scale beam. A 3 inch gash crushed the skull, yet he did not lose consciousness. Dr Hopkins treated him, relieving brain pressure, and he was taken to Prairie View hospital with funds secured by Dave Landberger. Reports say his condition improved.

Mexican laborers arrive for cotton fields in Walker Texas
Two hundred Mexican floating laborers arrived in town Tuesday and were immediately placed in the cotton fields. The group includes workers associated with local farming and medical professionals such as Dr. J. J. Hopkins and Dr. H. K. McWilliams, with several local residents named in connection to the arrival.

Andrew Neeley Jr Shot By Negro In Shreveport
A fourteen year old boy, Andrew Neeley Jr., 17, was shot eleven days ago in Shreveport by a Black man. He suffered hemorrhage Tuesday, his condition described as seriously complicated. No further details of the shooting were released.

Record Bales Ginned Beat Twice In Week
The Rhenan Gin reported a new high Tuesday with 45 bales, then 50 bales the next day. Through Wednesday a total of 614 bales were ginned. last year only 5 bales were ginned before Aug 16, versus 522 this year. Thursday is expected to match or exceed prior gains.
