Murder of Elsie Jones Near Brookshire Shocks County

In Waller county a large posse and bloodhounds searched for a suspect after Elsie Jones age 22 was found murdered near Brookshire. Her body showed four head wounds from a heavy instrument and lay by a creek edge after she rode a mule out to round up cows Tuesday evening. Her family had searched all night before dawn discovered her body.

Selma Gre Suffered Injury After Ferry Crash

Selma Gre was rushed to a hospital after a collision near the McDowell ferry. Mrs. Gra was seriously hurt when the car left the road into a ditch. she returned home per her physician’s orders awaiting further examination. The Muske ambulance conveyed the injured party.

Mrs. Martha Frels Dies in Victoria at Age

Mrs. Martha Frels longtime Brookshire resident died in Victoria on Sunday August 6 after a period of illness. She is survived by six daughters Mesdames A H Muske Selma Gray Bila Beamus H A Struss Norma Frels and Victoria Frels and two sons Reuben Frels and C H Frels along with sixteen grandchildren. Burial was beside her husband in Frelsburg Cemetery near New Ulm. Tenderest sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Son Walker of Falshear was injured while bleeding a beef for market. He shot the animal to kill it and, as he neared to stab its neck, the beast rose and struck his arm. The thrust redirected into his lower limb causing a deep painful wound. He is recovering rapidly.
