A June thunderstorm hit the McGrath store when lightning struck its chimney. Two men on the corner were badly shocked. one’s umbrella flew into the street. The damage was limited to a few bricks at the chimney corner. Town folk were startled by the thunder clap and the brief disruption.
List of marriage licenses issued in the past week includes J. H. Beavers with Maggie McMillan, J. H. Jones with Willie Sutton, Wm. A. Allred with Mands Boggs, Thos. W. Chisholm with Ada Davis Smith, E. G. Hayman with W. O. McCaffrey, Louis Thompson with Florence Kirkfield, and colored couples Silas Miller with Charlotte Rollins, Henry Lewis with Vance Brown, Giles May with Georgia Brace, Hollis Williams with Eva Anderson, Ivory Hodge with Detha A. Pieckins, Jim Roberson with Katie Gorden.
Nineteen persons were killed in a wreck on the Lake Shore Railroad at Mentor Ohio. A ruined switch caused the accident. City cases involve disturbances of the peace and assaults with fines from $2.50 to $5 and costs. one case not tried.

Witnesses recount a confrontation over an insult, a struggle over a pistol, and a buckshot discharge that killed Sim Green. McRee released on $1000 bond for the next Circuit Court term.
