It also covers Children’s Day at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, praising the program, choir, orderly conduct, and the presence of candidates greeting attendees amid rain.
Last Wednesday night unknown thieves forced entry through plate glass at A C Seavey Sons and L Cohn Bros. At Cohns a rifle and hatchet were taken. at Seaveys cash left by young lady clerks was stolen. Damaged doors signaled malicious intent. Local chatter mentions a shift in political loyalties and various social notes from Brookhaven and Summit, including a city marshal candidacy for June 14.
At the adjourned meeting of the City Council on June 10 mayor R D Lanier and aldermen Cassedy Jones McGrath and Seavey present. Applewhite resigns as marshal.
