Howell Recaptured After Jail Break in Mississippi
Howell, the notorious horse thief who escaped from Brookhaven jail with four others on April 10, was recaptured in Pike County near the Louisiana line on a Saturday afternoon. He had dodged pursuers through Copiah, Lawrence, Marion and Pike counties, stealing three horses and two yokes of oxen during the chase. He was found asleep with a pocket knife, transported to the sheriff, and denied aid from his brother. His captors had offered a $70 reward. Lincoln County Republicans endorse Brennan for Congress and commend Chas. Chrisman.
