Only White Woman in the Penitentiary
Lena Wilkinson of Lincoln County, sentenced to life for infanticide, has been placed in the penitentiary as the only white woman confined there. She was brought in by Sheriff Applewhite and awaits possible clemency or reduction. a prior white woman had been confined in the last twenty years but was pardoned before arrival.
