Lou Tyler the Hilltoppers halfback sparked Glenbard to a 13-0 win over the A-B Bulldogs at Glen Ellyn. Tyler broke free on a third down from the 1K yard line for the first score and again set up the final touchdown after a punt return. Ettinger added the convert on the second TD as Glenbard secured undisputed conference lead with Maine walloping Grange 19-0, Downers Grove beating York 13-12.

Pentis Joins Caserta Commemoration Day Rites

Pfc Charles J Pentis of Brookfield took part in Commemoration Day exercises at Allied Force Headquarters Caserta October A. Lt Gen William D Morgan unveiled a plaque marking the joint occupation of the Royal Palace by British and American units. The program included invocations, messages from Allied force officials, Morgan's address, and a grand Mediterranean Theater review featuring Scotch Guards and other Allied troops.

Second Stolen Car Recovered by Brookfield Police

The second stolen car in two weeks was recovered here Saturday evening by Brookfield police. Harold F. Cope of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. the car was found to be stolen and turned over to Chicago authorities. A prior incident involved a lumber truck stolen two weeks earlier, with $2,000 worth of lumber missing.

Church Basketball League Opens November 19 at Gross School Gym

The church athletic league plans the opening games for Tuesday, November 19 at the Gross School gym with three games starting at 7 p.m. A final planning meeting for all league churches is set for Tuesday, November 12 at 8 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran church where teams will pay their entry fees.
