The Lin-1 PTA meeting opened in the afternoon led by Mrs. A Hoppe. First grade won a prize, a community sing was enjoyed, and a member was presented by four grade mothers.
Hinsdale trounced the RB Bulldogs 34 to 6 on Hinsdale field as Dublinski and Woods connected for the first score, Carlos Dysart added points, and Hinsdale pulled away with multiple drives. RB matched a lone late score with stout defense but could not overcome the Devils pace and penalties.
Open house by the Riv erside Brookfield Patrons Council on October 28 at the high school. Parents will meet faculty in 10 minute sessions, receive a building map and their child’s program card, with ushers guiding to rooms. The patrons meeting follows in the auditorium with introductions by Supt Haebich and Board President Stodek. Music by the RB band under Louis Newmark, refreshments in the cafeteria.
Family night at the First Congregational Church is set for Sunday evening October 26 with a 3:30 PM pot luck supper. Newcomers should bring sandwiches. movies will entertain children while adults participate in ongoing program and discussion. About 250 attended the last Wakefield Hall gathering. open to all, bring children.
Family Sunday at the First Congregational church Oct. 26 features a 1 pm worship led by the Chancel choir. The service includes the dedication of 24 blue robes worn by the choir, selected by a committee chaired by Mrs. Floyd Bonnold with Mrs. Joseph Tabor and Mrs. Edward Ellison. The chorus will perform Living for Jesus with soloist Stanley Holat and The Lord Is My Shepherd.
More than 300 guests attended the Brookfield Methodist church last Saturday for the marriage of Florence Mehl and Harold Penne. The candlelight ceremony featured Rev Vance C. Rogers and organist Dick Braun with Ruth Pe i ections performing "At Dawning" and "The Lord's Prayer." Florence, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Meirr, and Harold Penne, son of Mr and Mrs Glenn Penne, exchanged vows under palms and white floral arrangements. Florence wore a traditional white gown with a fitted bodice and long sleeves, a fingertip veil, and orange blossom crown, carrying white chrysanthemums and pom poms. Maid of honor Marilyn Mc Donald and bridesmaid Myrtle Penne wore blue and yellow gowns respectively. best man was George Wieman and ushers Walter Helm and George Mehl assisted. A reception for 200 guests followed.
The bride and groom, both active in Brookfield church circles, plan to live temporarily at 3416 McCormick Avenue after a wedding trip to the Ozarks. The bride chose a blue suit with tan accessories, and a bouquet was caught by Myrtle Penne before departure. Faithful to the community, they were showered with gifts from family and friends.
