City farm along Route 66 eyed for reform institution
Chicago Municipal Court Judge Joseph H. McGarry urged using the 371 acre Route 66 farm at County Line Road near Willow Springs for a state of the art facility to treat drug addicts alcoholics and thousands of disturbed persons. He said with moderate funds a 5000 inmate institution could be built and later probation and court supervision used. The 1929 two story building on the site has rarely housed inmates from the House of Correction and currently holds 120 of the Skid Row population.

Battey Named Assistant Service Manager at Electro-Motive

Harriet M. McConaughy of 101 S Catherine Ave died Monday morning at Hinsdale sanitarium. A 45 year LaGrange resident active in local clubs, she was born Sept 28 1882 in Rockford Ill and married Oct 8 1908 in Chicago. Survived by husband Joseph E and two sons William C and Joseph C, with a brother Fred Colburn. Services 10 a.m. today at Hallowell and Dame Chapel. burial La Grange Cemetery.

The Trinity Seminary male quartet of Chicago will lead the 11 a.m. service on March 18 at Brookfield Baptist church 9012 Fairview Ave. The quartet includes Dale Halstrom Harry Evans Trigve-Landru and Philip Johnson with pianist Axel Gummesen. The Trinity Seminary and Bible College is the Evangelical Free Church of America school at 4211 North Hermitage Ave Chicago offering two and a three year college courses and a three year seminary program.
