Large parade honors LaGrange area residents with numerous categories and winners. Names listed include Martha Welling of LaGrange, Macbeth Douglass, Marilyn Thuma of Dover, and Greg Reynert among Brookfield entrants. Sectional prizes awarded to dozens of residents across LaGrange Brookfield Western Springs and LaGrange Park with diverse themes from dogs and dolls to costumes of the world. Baccalaureate services noted and upcoming bridal events announced for area couples including Lois Peel and Michael Fewland with multiple showers planned.
Thirty one students of Lincoln school rise as sprouting wings in a theme Our Flight Into the Future for the 31 June 1954 graduation. They look upward to higher education and life beyond. The Lincoln ’53’54 ship receives a refit as a new crew prepares to sail. Officers honored include pilot R. Serge eighth grade teacher principal H Armgard dispatcher Supt E Aurand. Banquet follows.
A school graduation celebration featured a donated plane suspended over the banquet table with parachutes and fliers representing graduates careers. Small planes from Philips 66 decorated tables, napkins acted as wind socks, flight maps on cloths, and drinks served in nut cups. Graduates listed include Diana Adams and Charles Bokuniewicz among many others.
