Riverside Village Increases Water Rates June Vote
Riverside Village Board of Trustees voted June 28 to raise water rates to cover higher production costs next year. The schedule adds 2 cents per 100 cubic feet in each bracket and raises the minimum to 4.50, effective with August bills. Anticipated costs total 6 to 7 thousand dollars, driven by lake water purchases and higher wave costs. Lake water connection planned by late July as reservoir work nears completion, with final inspection mid July. Chicago officials and the Brookfield North Riverside district will inspect for contamination before approval. Chicago will charge about 7 cents per thousand gallons, matched by the district, with a stand-by minimum of 200 monthly, about 100000 gallons daily. Normal village use runs around 600000 gallons daily, rising in summer and during dry periods.
