Methodist Cagers Defeat Lutherans 83 to 29 in Close Conference Clash

Led by Johnny Halveck with nine points, the Methodist cagers edged Lutheran 83 to 29. Halbeck and teammates Lloyd Henning Don Brunson and Howie Anderson starred for Methodist while Ed Winters Chuck Matson and George Davis led Lutheran. Congress Park edged the Baptists 28 to 26 in another tight game with Ken Pierce scoring 13 for Congress Park and Merritt May 11 for Baptist. Hollywood beat Congregational 31 to 22 as Wall 15 and Flaherty 11 led Hollywood and Seyl Duncan helped Congregational with six each. An earlier transportation move involved a complaint filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission over inadequate service by Blue Bird Coach Lines and related lines in Brookfield and LaGrange.

A Caserta Italy dispatch reports Charles J. Pentis son of Mr and Mrs Edward J Pentis 3515 Vernon Ave Brookfield promoted from technician fifth grade to sergeant. He serves as chief clerk to the Staff Judge Advocate Headquarters Command Mediterranean Theater Overseas six months. He may wear the EAME ribbon good conduct medal World War I Occupation Medal and World War I Liberty Ribbon. He attended Fenwick High School Oak Park graduating in 1945 and later studied at the University of Illinois.

Students from dental medical and pharmacy colleges join booths sideshows and dancing at the Chicago Union builders carnival at 715 South Woodse. The event begins at 8 30 p m and is the chief all student social affair of the year showcasing student talent.

Rev Crosby to Speak At Congregational Here

The Rev Thomas Leroy Crosby of the First Congregational Church in La Grange will speak at the Family Night Lent service at First Congregational Church in Brookfield on Sunday evening March 2. A picnic supper starts at 5 o'clock, with coffee served by deaconesses Leah Schaffert Emma Dolezel and John Caldwell. While adults attend, children join a story hour led by Mrs Nash Sr with the men's quartet to sing.
