A reader recalls a cold day contemplation of a stone memorial near the Village Hall to honor boys who fought and died in the last war. He mentions nearby city park and library memorials and envisions a clocked high school roof as a four sided, hourly memorial. Comments are invited for the War Memorial association review.
Gross school PTA hosts a party next Monday at 8 PM in the gym to mark the 25th anniversary of the PTA and the National PTA’s 50th. Rev Vance D Rogers gives the invocation. Mrs Bertram Little represents the National PTA. Mrs Tyng Munns of LaGrange travels from Chicago area to present the program. Past Presidents honored include Esther Benson, William Baumbach, C T Watson, Milton Beattie, Robert Price, Chester Allen, Robert Hengel, Lynn Coy, Matt Lilliander, Kenneth Cates, Charles Husa, George Hoffman, Guy Ditzler, Willam Blaser, and Harry Brunson. Third grade moms hostesses.
Methodists widened their lead in the league with a 45 26 victory over the Baptists who sit in second. Hollywood beat Lutheran 37 19 as Congress Park edged Congregational 40 12. Johnny Halbeck tops scoring with 112 points, Merrit Mayy next with 102.
Dorothea Anderson notes Negro American History Week events at Brookfield Free Public Library. A Grace Markwell class creates a special exhibit. Junior Council on Social Studies displays photos and scrapbooks on Negro public life. Notable book blurbs include biographies of Lilly Cadhe and Grace Moore, with tied films and readings.

President Gertrude Giermann opened the meeting and named Gertrude and Leona Nortier chairmen of the Spring Card and Bunco party to be held at Nations Hall on Wednesday March 19 with table and door prizes. The next Auxiliary meeting will be a Valentine party on Wednesday Feb 20 at 8 p.m. VFW Brookfield Day at Hines Hospital is scheduled each Monday.
