Brookfield Youth Center trounces Cicero Red Birds 7 to 4 in thriller

Jake Moody earned his fourth win of the year as Brookfield Youth Center rallied in the seventh inning after Cicero tied the game with three runs. Dick Apple hit a first pitch triple to spark the deciding rally, Bob Ritzman drove in a run, and Bone’s fielding turns and two eighth inning runs sealed the 7–4 win. Brookfield later routed LaGrange All Stars 17–0 behind Moody’s shutout and a strong team hitting effort. The 11–0 season pushes Brookfield toward a Sunday home game against Cole Lenzi’s at Riverside Brookfield field on Aug 4.

Louis Klein Attends Shrine Convention and Tour

Louis Klein left July 18 to attend the Shriners convention in San Francisco. He toured Salt Lake City and the Mormon Temple, watched a Cheyenne rodeo, spent four days in San Francisco, then visited Los Angeles, San Antonio, Dallas, and Kansas City. In Juarez he attended a bull fight and vows he never wants to see another. He rejoined the Medina brass band in Los Angeles where he reunited with two brothers after ten years.

Vacation marred by corn stalks and theft report

Mr and Mrs Henry Weise and Lawrence return from a Illinois vacation with their brother in law Michael Moncesiis to find their crop stripped of corn ears. The couple recounts a ruined two week trip as theft and spoilage overshadowed their leisure. A prior incident involving a Sonster Wagon is mentioned as a separate note.

James Rachick of 9428 Jefferson filed in the Probate court to open his late father Frank Rachick's estate died December 13, 1945 leaving about 2000 dollars. The estate will be divided among heirs as no will exists. Surviving daughters are Marie Ghinn of Alexandria Virginia Margaret Ryepaky of Brookfield and Frantex Lase of 120 South ASE. Olander Levin of 8730 Cleveland Avenue died June 28 leaving about 6000 dollars. heirs mostly reside in Sweden. niece Ellen Johnson filed for letters of administration.

Modern Achilles of Chicago Fails Modern Brake Lesson

Marchiori of Chicago suffered a modern vulnerability when his truck failed to brake in time on Harlem Avenue near Long Common Road. He rear crashed into a car driven by Waylord Gross of Skokie, causing about 100 dollars in damage to the right rear fender and trunk. Gross reported stopping for a red light. Marchiori’s brakes did not respond quickly enough. Riverside police noted the incident.

North Riverside car crash injures four on Second Street

Riverside on Second Street near 26th street and Hainesworth avenue saw a collision between two West Towns Railway cars Sunday. A motor man and three passengers sustained injuries none serious as brakes failed to stop the rear car before it rammed the front. The injured were taken to McNéal Memorial Hospital by Riverside police and an ambulance. Officers Hefele Zolk and Auxiliary Police assisted.

Police Ambulance Ride After Riverside Zoo Car Crash

A Riverside streetcar crash sent Harold Luttenhach and others to hospitals. Among the injured was Margaret Perry from Edmonton visiting the Chicago zoo. Mr and Mrs Joseph Rickard of 55 North La Trobe Ave Chicago were also hospitalized. Seven passengers were aboard the car bound for Brookfield Zoo. A Memorial Day crash nearby injured over 380 in a separate zoo vehicle collision.

Month's Motor Trip Through Western States

Mrs Josephine Myers and her son Kermht left from 3922 Park to undertake a month long family motor journey. Miss Adams of Maywood also joined as they travel via Minneapolis to Seattle then down the coast to Southern California and return by the Southern Route. Willis Melville accompanied to Chippewa Falls while the mother visited a cousin in Atkinson Wisconsin. She reports a wonderful time.
