George Hoffman writes to Jose, recalling school days at the little red schoolhouse and memories of students, twins Jessie and Anne, and Teddy Roosevelt era. He commends the board, praises leadership and administration, and extends best wishes to the community and Audrey Etch.
Members spoke of recovery from illness as William Markward led the meeting. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit will be welcomed at the next meeting on Monday night April 28 with entertainment and refreshments promised. Trophies for champions were awarded to George Meyers, Emil Barsick, and Candlelight Lounge. Soft Ball Managers note a meeting on Monday April 21 to finalize entry fees and the team schedule.
May 1 deadline set for the Legion auxiliary poster contest with three student classes from fourth to twelfth grades. Prizes total 100 dollars for each class winner. Last year’s district winners include Glen Sheltington and Mary Carol Gregory.
To speed defrosting fill ice trays with hot water and place in the freezer. Turn the control knob to off and close the refrigerator door. After about 15 minutes the ice will scale off and the unit will be ready to reset for freezing.
The twenty fourth annual Music Week runs May 4 to 11 at Gross School with the theme Music is Especially needed Now. All fourth to eighth grade students participate in programs culminating in the Music Festival on May 7. the public is invited.
Aubrey Fanning and his wife live in one of 21 veteran apartments at Collegeville Carthage college. Both graduates of Riverside Brookfield High School in Brookfield. Mr. Fanning, son of Frank B. Fanning of Brookfield, served four years in the Navy after 1942 and is now a business administration freshman. Mrs. Fanning, Frances Hughes of Riverside, graduated in 1942. They have one child, Linda Ann.
Brookfield Manor League game night at Congress Park Liquors and Cupboard Restaurant featured top performances with Penn posting a high series of 519 and Foval a high game of 197. Team totals shown include WwW 56 47 416 43 38 31.

A damaged $57 accident claim was rejected. Amvets Carnival permit requested for Aug 1924, dates to be aligned with existing events. Kiwanis Park use for Brookfield Church league filed. Referendum on March 18 tax increase cost $576. the measure was rejected. Hollywood Aye announced Sunday sermon topic Christianity True with guest soloist Mrs Jeane R Stein. Rummage sale announced for Friday. elders and trustees to meet Monday April 21.
