Two war correspondents and a doughboy driver encounter a gas shell attack on the front. A jam blocks their path until the doughboy floors the accelerator and they escape the gas. The driver quips this is perhaps the best the war has to offer.
Friends and relatives gathered to mark Mr and Mrs Isaiah Lyons fortieth anniversary at their Newton County home. Attendees included multiple families from Rensselaer Kentland Mt Ayr and Moracen. Robert Cochrane died Sunday morning at Mayo Bros hospital Rochester after an operation. Reared on a Goodland area farm, he worked for C. & E. I. railroad before farming near LaCrosse Indiana and later Philips Wisconsin. He moved back to Goodland, then Goocland, and finally Gooodland area, where he owned a farm before illness. Buried in Goodland after remains arrived Tuesday. services by Woodland church Presbyterian pastor. He leaves a wife four children and several relatives.
Robert Cochrane son of John and Mary Cochrane born near Mendota November 1867 died September 26 1920 at Mayo Brothers Hospital Rochester Minnesota aged 52 years 9 months 24 days. He married Emma Summers of La Crosse Indiana and they had five children Water Carl John Mary and Jean John died in infancy. He leaves a wife four children his father two sisters and one brother. Bol was known for helping the needy and worked for C B S 1 R R Co for many years. He belonged to the Goodland Masonic fraternity and supported its interests.

A quiet Sunday ceremony at the residence of Mr and Mrs George Weishaar united their daughter Gertrude with George R Miller. Rev Chancellor officiated. Attendants included the couple's families and local notables. Gertrude Weishaar a Goodland High School graduate and Brook Schools teacher, joins businessman George R Miller who recently moved from near Philips Wisconsin. The couple will reside at Isaac Sell’s West Brook home after October 10 1920.

The Brook Methodist official board unanimously requests the Northwest Indiana Conference to renew Rev. Wilson for another year at Hawk. His honors with the World Conference of Methodists and his leadership mark him highly in the conference. Brook would miss him if reassigned. Epworth League members later picnicked at McCray's Cabin, lighting a fire for warmth and cooking, enjoying awing, songs, stories, and cats before a late exit due to rain.
The band gave a brief concert on Wednesday evening amid inclement weather. A crowd gathered despite the cold, while many stayed indoors. T. Be Meredith proved an efficient director, and with winter work the band should continue its strong season.
