Railroad officials visit Brook to study living costs

On Wednesday members of C. and F. railroad officials toured Brook stores to gauge food and clothing prices along their Indiana line. They probe whether wage cuts are justified by lower living costs, arguing railroads must adjust rates and wages after a period of high prices and union pressure. Continued to 5th page.

Well Known Attorney Frank Davis Dies in Office

The community learned that 63 year old attorney Frank Davis was found dead in his upstairs office after dinner with friends. Witnesses reported he appeared fine before leaving the restaurant and entering his Lyons Hershman block office where Squire Hawkins found him unresponsive. Dr. Collier attributed death to angina pectoris, noting past episodes. Davis had long been a prominent Newton County lawyer with a successful practice. Continued on page 4.
