Senior Class to Stage Temple Theatre Show

The Senior Class presents another program at the Temple Theatre aiming to surpass prior attendance records. Joe Badger will perform, Florence Shaffer and Irene Heistand sing harmony, Helen Hersuman piano, and a quartet is planned. Rev. U B church members raised over $6,000 on Sunday toward a World Inter Church fund with a $5,095 goal. By afternoon pledges reached $6,694 and the canvass continues, marking a comfortable margin of about a thousand dollars.

Legion Minstrel Show to Feature Jolson and Tray in Goodland

David I. Berns Post of the American Legion will present a minstrel show on May 10 and 11 in Goodland. Frank Tray and Al Jolson impersonators will perform along with local talent in dancing, singing, and sketches. Proceeds fund Legion quartets. public urged to attend.

Rosenbrook Farmhouse Burns Amid Fire Losses

On Tuesday night the two story Rosenbrook Farmhouse, now owned by Mr Stathc, burned to the ground. Bert Bell and family discovered the blaze but it spread rapidly, destroying most of the home and contents. Replacement costs may reach $3,000 with only $1,000 of insurance. Bell let coverage lapse.

Memorial Sermon Set by DePauw Official at Brook

The Rev H A Gobin vice president of DePauw University will deliver this year’s memorial sermon at Brook filling the pulpit on Sunday. Rev Wilson was to preach but the C A It suggested using a supply preacher for the memorial address. Gobin is a Civil War veteran who fought in major battles including Gettysburg where he witnessed the events firsthand.

Brook Public Library opens Mt Ayr station in new school building

In Jackson Township the Brook Public Library opened a Library Station in Mt Ayr within the new school building. About seventy five residents attended a short program with Rev Sheets of Mt Ayr praising reading and access to curated books. Mrs Ranemeier performed two solos. The Brook Library librarian outlined benefits of modern service and the rollout plan for the coming year. The Mt Ayr station will operate Wednesday and Saturday afternoons under Miss Romona’s supervision.
