The St Josephs Turner Squad plans an annual great athletic event at the College Auditorium, with about forty members from seniors to younger gymnasts. Veterans headline acts including the giant swinger and clown master, plus pyramid building and tumbling. The College Band will provide music for both May 2 and May 7 public performances at 8 p.m.
Hugh McKinney died at his daughter's home in Foresman Indiana after a two week illness from pneumonia. Born in County Antrim Ireland July 18 1858 he came to the United States at 19 and lived at Goodland Rensselaer and Italiana before making his home with his daughter in Foresman. He leaves two sons Robert L Watseka and William J Rensselaer a daughter Mrs John McKinney five brothers five grandchildren and many friends. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Foresman with Rev Crowder officiating and burial in Goodland cemetery.
A truckload of three hundred bushels of certified seed potatoes was unloaded at Enos early this week for use nearby. The Rural New Yorkers came from Wisconsin and are high yielding, intended to show Newton County farmers the value of certified seed.
