Cyclone devastates Indiana farms causing deaths and ruin
A powerful cyclone struck near Brook Indiana on Monday destroying Lyons farm buildings and the Baker farm homestead. The storm killed a mother and daughter and badly injured the father while wrecking barns silos and outbuildings. Neighbors aided survivors as telegraph and telephone lines failed and roads flooded.

Death claims two well known Brook residents
Brook mourns the loss of two community figures in the past week. Mrs. F. Hawkins died after a lingering accident and Mrs. Luella Chapin Unger, wife of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Chapin, died in Jefferson township following measles and pneumonia. Unger, born near Brook, left a young daughter Bernadetta and was remembered as a bright, cheery presence by neighbors. Funeral services were held at Trinity church in Kentland with large local turnout.

Cyclone Victims Buried in Same Grave
The funeral of Mrs A R Dillon and her daughter Lena was held at the M E church with a capacity crowd. The service recalled the catastrophe and the family’s bereavement.
