Santa Fe reports week ending figures showing 29 886 cars moved, down from 80 152 in 1938, with 8 058 cars the prior week. J W King of the Association of American Railroads says rail passengers are safer than bus and air travelers, noting 14 and 32 times safer respectively. Train accidents in 1938 were the lowest in history, a third less than 1987 and two thirds less than 1929.
