Mrs R H Reaven and Mrs Ola Pate visit Blackwell this week while Mr and Mrs Robert Post and children relocate from Midland to take the agriculture teacher position in Blackwell schools. The Posts reside in Miss Mae Cox’s The Enterprise apartment and are welcomed to Blackwell.
F D Patterson of Tuskegee Institute reports to The Enterprise that 4 lynchings occurred in the first six months of 1939. States with lynchings were Florida with 2, Georgia with 1, and Mississippi with 1. This total is 8 more than the first six months of 1938 and matches the six months of 1937.
Sam Smith of El Paso visits relatives in Blackwell this week while Denzel Sheppard, working on a ranch near Big Spring, is home for a few days after an operation on his left eye. Methodist Ladies Host South America Program at the church with Mrs. Huckabee, Mrs. Youree, Mrs. Leach, Mrs. Hartin and Mrs. Ragsdale leading. other attendees include Mrs. Alsup, Mrs. Carlisle, Mrs. Kirk, Mrs. Youngblood, Mrs. Papier, and Mrs. Jorn.
