The Suh Sunday Meeting at Kickapoo Baptist Church near Bronte lists devotional talks and sermons from January 29 to 31. Speakers include G A Best E S Rowden M Johnson J P Thompson and others with topics on salvation age accountability and Millennium prophecy.
Coke county plans the fourth annual President's Ball honoring Franklin D. Roosevelt on his birthday. C. J. Bruton named county chairman. Fort Chadbourne's vacant store will host the event with a renowned orchestra. The ball is set for Saturday evening, January 30.
The Senior Women's Progressive Club met Thursday afternoon at Mrs. J. D Teonard's home. Mrs. Floyd Bridges and Mrs. Frank Keeney led a discussion on culture while guests answered the deal by offering etiquette rules. The hostess served chicken and confections.
The Baptist Senior Prep Young Peoples Union met at Miss Helen Abbott's home with illness keeping her from attending. J P Lambert presided as outgoing president and new officers were elected: President Edward Cumbie Vice president Hortense Pruitt Assistant Secretary Morton Caudle Corresponding Secretary-Treasurer Laverne Gaines Leader Vernon Muston Chorister Vanna Ruth Caperton. The group studied Eve The Mother of the Human Race led by Jack Chisholm. Attendees included Clementine Parker Lourelle Brock Anna Mae Abbott Delilah Phillips Geraldine Bell Mary Lee Phillips Helen Abbott Susie Tannehill Edward Cumbie J P Lambert Jesse Byrd Tannehill Lillie C Baker Vernon Muston John Abe Myers Elbert Stephenson and Mrs Lewis Stuckey sponsor. All urged to attend next Sunday at 6:15 at the tabernacle.
The Baptist Women's Missionary Society met Monday afternoon with Mrs. L. T. Youngblood. The final lesson of the mission study was led by Mrs. F. Keeney. Other attendees included Mrs. Charles Keeney, Mrs. Cumbie Ivey, and Mrs. Lewis Stuckey.
Pastor Lewis Stuckey and the Bronze Baptist church congregation finished interior improvements. They repapered and repainted the sanctuary, enhancing the church’s beauty and appeal.

The Bronte W O W Camp hosted a joint installation Saturday night for the Woodmen Circles of Hylton and Bronte. District managers L L Adams and Bessie Utterback led the ceremonies with attendees from several areas. Cake and coffee were served after the public meeting.
Mrs Elizabeth Ivey entertained the Junior Women's Progressive Club with a bridge party at the home of Mrs W H Maxwell. The Valentine color scheme featured heart shaped cards and ferns with red candy. A salad and heart shaped sandwiches plus marshmallow favors were served to Mmes D K Glenn H O Whitt Charles Baker Barrett Mackey Bud Maxwell Siae Powell Otis Smith Clytus Smith Cumbie Ivey Walter Bowden Woodrow Mullins Walton Fred McDonald and Misses Nell Lowry and Elizabeth Leonard.
Miss Lois Lambert hosted the Young Women's Auxiliary meeting on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Lewis Stuckey led the lesson titled Palestine Tapestries and a social tea of cherry pie and coffee followed.
On Thursday night January 28 the school auditorium hosts the PTA produced play Ruling the Roost. Admission is 10 and 20 cents offering value to attendees. The High School boy athletes showcase new sweaters.
The Bronte school holds a formal dedication of its new auditorium and gymnasium on Monday January 25 with a program including songs invocation remarks by Rev. Lewis Stuckey and speeches by B F Bridges H O Whitt and O Murdock. The event celebrates completion of the enlargement and building program and invites all citizens to attend.
A Coke County speaker urges unity to support federal relief programs and asks residents about Roosevelt Administration benefits. He advocates organizing a county Welfare Association, naming Bronte and Robert Lee committees with local leaders and volunteers ready to mobilize.

Bronte school hosted a three day invitation basketball tournament with eight West Texas schools present. Participants included Water Valley Miles Norton Wingate Blackwell Divide and Robert Lee. Bronte won first place over Water Valley in front of an estimated crowd of at least three hundred.
The Legislature convened in regular session on Tuesday January 12. Speaker Calvert, a Windsor man from Hilbycore, was elected by acclimation. Governor Alfred delivered a joint message outlining the security program, tax measures, and social welfare funding including an estimated twenty two and a half million dollars annually for the Social Security Program.
Thirty three head of sheep vanished from Willard Ivey's Bronte area farm weeks ago. Officers and F S Higginbotham traced the trail and recovered all sheep except a few. Ivey feels lucky about the outcome.
