Married at the editor's home on Saturday evening August 7 1937 J A Williams officiating united Miss Itha Mae Clifton of San Angelo and the groom an employee of West Texas Utilities Company. The bride daughter of Mr and Mrs Claude Clifton of Bronte is educated in Bronte and works in beauty culture in San Angelo. The groom a native of Illinois has lived in San Angelo eight years and is trusted at his company. Mr and Mrs Wade Rosser of San Angelo accompanied the couple to Bronte. Dr and Mrs Jd Leonard recently returned from Dallas where Mrs Leonard sought throat and neck treatment with Dallas specialists holding out hope for recovery. J Jordan of Robert Lee visited The Enterprise office and is aiding farmers of Tom Green County. Betty Jo Glenn returned from an extended visit to Waco praising the trip. Mrs RG Clark of Austin is visiting relatives and friends in the area.
A young girl Allene Hensley learning to swim nearly drowned after venturing into deep water as Heidie Brunson and Mrs. P. L. Bradley rushed to her aid. She sank twice before rescuers reached her. The Bradsleys and Brunsons are visiting relatives in Bronte, with broader regional notes on other locals and travel.
Hubert Hayley of Larkin travels with his family to Norton to see Mr and Mrs Larkin Hayley and their son. He meets old-time friends in Bronte on Tuesday and promises to bring Mrs Hayley and the children later in the week. Tyme remarks that Hubert seems to age little, enjoying a warm reunion with longtime acquaintances.
Honorary Charles Ray Sander sen, grandson of Mr and Mrs Sandersen, celebrated his sixth birthday with a party at Mrs Robert Knierim's home. Mesdames Barrett Mackey Cullen Luttrell and C W Luttrell hosted a group of children with indoor and outdoor games and a cake with six candles. Refreshments followed as guests listed include Joyce Nathalie Jessie Johnson Jackie Mackey Dorothy Walton June Ott Dorothy Ruth Stephenson and others.
