First Meeting of Euterpean Club in Blackwell

Bronte High School's AG building near completion

The new vocational agriculture building is nearly finished with only minor tasks left. Superintendent C. B. Barbee notes a small dirt fill, one sidewalk pour, and two entrance porches remain to complete the project located south of the old gymnasium.

Plans Made For Scout Fund Drive

Annual Boy Scouts fund drive to begin with an organizational meeting at Hurley Pharmacy. Captains meet Sept 27 at 7 p.m. in city hall. Kickoff breakfast Oct 3 at Cactus Cafe 7 a.m. Elmer Hurley heads audit, Marvin Bryant handles general sales, Austin Mesterson publicity and arrangements. Cecil Cox reports last year’s total $750 and per capita uplift.

Coke Exhibit Days Planned for Oct 14 and 15

Plans for the annual Coke County Exhibit to be held October 14 and 15 in the Robert Lee Recreation Building include crafts arts needlework antiques historical and gift items horticulture clothing and scrapbooks. Mrs Tom E Rives chairs the event sponsored by the Home Demonstration Council with cooperation from the Coke County Historical Survey Committee. School Clubs Name Officers For Year

Gary Stroebel will be president of Bronte Hish School Student Council for 1966 67, Don Hageman is the vice president. Other student council officers are Mary Lou Basquez secretary, David Glenn treasurer, Bennie Carol Oglesby reporter and Douglas McCutchen parliamentarian. Merritt Scott has been elected president of the Spanish Club. Randy Barbee is vice president and Linda Cumbie is secretary. Darrell Windhaus is faculty sponsor. The Science Club met Friday afternoon and elected new officers for 1967 67. They are: Gary Stroebel president. Keith Morris vice president. Frances Glenn secretary treasurer, and Su Lynn Henry reporter. The club had eleven members remaining from last year and elected two new members for this year's club. Ctint Low is the sponsor of the Science Club.

Bronte Longhorn Band Schedule Revealed by Supt Barbee

Supt C B Barbee announced Bronte Longhorn Band participation for three Interscholastic League events. A marching contest is set for November 19 in Big Spring, a solo and ensemble contest for March 18 at an undecided site, and a final concert contest on April 15 in Sweetwater. The Maroon and White band joined Abilene Christian College Band Day last Saturday under Russell L Fuller.

Arrive From England Family Returns From Duty Tour

Captain J S Jayroe and wife and three children have returned to the United States after an extended duty tour in England. They landed at McGuire AFB New Jersey last Friday and expect assignment to an Air Force base in San Antonio. Mrs Jayroe formerly Ann Adams of Bronte is a granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Rogers who expect a visit soon.
