School lunchroom menus for September 23 to 27 list daily meals from Monday through Friday and include items such as super dogs blacked peas jello with cheese and fruit and assorted breads. Community notices report funeral attendance visits weddings hospitalizations church meetings and local visits across multiple Texas towns.
The Bertie Leonard and Joy Circles of First United Methodist Church met Tuesday September 10 in a joint service to form the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Wesleyan Service Guild, uniting Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist members into a single charter membership. After a celebration service, attendees shared an Agape Feast with Moravian rolls jelly butter cheese grapes and lemonade. Hostesses were Mrs. Charles Ragsdale Mrs. M. Russell and Mrs. R. C. Lasswell. guests included Mrs. Lenorah Riker Good the Rev A S Masterson and others.
Airman Bruce L. Sonnenberg son of Mr and Mrs Louis J Sonnenberg of Tennyson has finished basic training at Amarillo AFB Texas and will attend the Air Force Technical Training Center at Lowry AFB Colorado for specialized munitions training. He is a 1968 Bronte High School graduate.
The menu lists items for a lunch program including tuna salad pork and beans chips sweet pickles lightbread and fruit pastry cobbler. On a separate line ham diced potato salad pinto beans cabbage slaw fruit rolls chocolate pudding. Other dishes include meat loaf black eyed peas spinach stuffed celery corn bread and apple crunch. Thursday September 26 features oven fried chicken jackets potatoes seasoned green beans tossed salad rolls and peach halves with dream whip plus steak and gravy whipped potatoes buttered peas tomato lettuce rolls and fruit cocktail cake.
Members of the Diversity Club met Sept. 5 at the home of Mrs. J. T. Henry for the initial meeting of the new club year. Mrs. D. K. Glenn, president, presented yearbooks and refreshments were served as lunch kits to the members.
