A letter from Uncle Hale recounts political humor from local meetings. He jokes about women meetings and a cannery project, notes North Carolina slop boiling law, laments Congress spending on travel, and ends with a preaching collection drive saying you cannot take it with you.
Mr and Mrs Claude Dimore visited in San Angelo with Mrs D W Sheffey and family. The Sewing Club meets Thursday at Mrs Claude Ditmores home. Community night is set for Sept 17 at the Tennyson Center with a wedding shower for Mr and Mrs Pete Thomas. Cake and punch, dominos and card tables invited. music by local musicians. Guests included Mrs Henry Taylor Mrs Don Taylor Tressie of San Diego and Mrs Mary Clark of Bronte. They attended a Corley funeral in Blackwell Monday.
Uncle Huie notes a strong Sunday collection drive and mentions a new champion surpassing Coolidge’s record with the phrase I do not choose to run. He also references a question to Senator Williams about taxes and signs off as Uncle Huie.
Mrs Gladys Davis spent the weekend with Jack Corley and family who recently moved a new house to their place near Bronte. A tree splinter injured Jack’s eye but doctors expect partial vision recovery. Numerous Sunday guests from San Angelo Miles Tennyson and Bronte areas visited local families including the Browns Gastons Ditmores and Colmans. A newborn daughter Sharron was born Sept 7 to Homer L Flanagan of Petaluma with San Angelo and Brookshire grandparents.
