Family from McCutchen line preserves late Texas frontier stories
Mrs. Clint Wilkins recalls the J B McCutchen settlement near the creek produced the family home the first school and church focused the community. She notes summer Old Settlers reunions at Maverick and Fort Chadbourne and August camp meetings under an arbor near the current school store. The family’s Baptists watched changes from side saddle to divided skirts after a horse incident.
