1961 Chevrolet previews a redesigned Corvair range with new passenger and commercial models. The line adds Lakewood Station Wagon and Greenbrier Sports Wagon, plus upgraded engines, larger fuel tank, and improved luggage space. Variants include Club coupe, four-door sedan, Monza Sport Coupe, Greenbrier, and Loadside/Rampside trucks.
The Bronte Enterprise introduces a six passenger model with folded second seat for 68 cubic feet of cargo space and 10 cubic feet of lockable under hood storage. In 1960 conventional cars return in Impala Bel Air and Biscayne lines with an added Impala two door sedan. Station wagons Nomad Parkwood and others offer six or nine passenger options.
Brookwood notes a reversal of trend toward larger cars with new passenger models 1.5 inches shorter and 2.4 inches narrower. Overall length 209.3 inches and width 78.4 inches. Distinctive roof contours, removal of small rear triangular windows on four door sedans and wagons, and widened rear corner pillars for a hooded look.
The 61 Chev rolet trims outside for easier parking while expanding interior space with wider door openings and higher easy-chair seats.
