Coke County 4 H Electric Group received a $75 certificate for first place in district contests last spring led by T. M. Wylie Jr. The group has placed first the past two years and second in 1958. Also noted is a November 4 WHO Council meeting at 2 p.m. in the Courthouse conference room.
A weekly lunch menu lists Monday stew and pimento cheese sandwiches with cake. Tuesday white beans barbecue potato salad rolls devils food cake. Wednesday hamburger steaks blackeyed peas buttered corn beet slices corn bread fruit jello. Thursday pinto beans tamales buttered cabbage onion rings corn bread cookies. Friday minute steaks cream potatoes English peas congealed salad rolls stewed fruit.
Mr and Mrs Wendell Gideon traveled to Abilene on Saturday for the wedding of Verlon Gideon the brother of Wendell and Kay Goss. Wendell Gideon acted as best man in the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Tidwell hosted an ice cream supper Saturday night for their son James Arnold Tidwell who leaves Sunday for Karnes City where he will join Lone Star Gas Co. The Tidwells’ guest list included families from San Angelo and Bronte.
Bronte High B team defeated Sacred Heart 30 to 12 last Saturday morning. The regulars played four plays, then the 7th and 8th grade boys took over. A return game is set for next Saturday in San Angelo.
The Farm Bureau of Coke County will present a driving safety program at the school November 14 at 1 30 p m. Special emphasis will be placed on safety habits and demonstrations on proper handling of automobiles.
Mr and Mrs C J Nall come from Drasco to spend Saturday night with Mr and Mrs George Braswell They and the Braswells later visit Eddie Braswell in Sterling City on Sunday
