Gene Sherrod To Graduate From Texas U
Gene Allen Sherrod son of Mr and Mrs Allen Sherrod is among more than 700 candidates for bachelor of arts and sciences degrees from the University of Texas in Austin this weekend. Commencement exercises will be held Saturday June 2. He is a Bronte High School graduate and will begin medical studies in Galveston at the UT Medical Branch in the fall.

Modglings Attend Son-in-Law’s Houston Graduation
Mr and Mrs Floyd Modgling traveled to Houston to visit their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Charles Oliphant and family for about a week. They will attend the June 2 graduation exercises at the University of Houston where Oliphant will receive a B S degree in Diesel engineering.

Stewart Injured In Horse Accident
Harry T. Stewart a 21 year old ranch hand on the Bert Blaylock ranch is in satisfactory condition at Shannon hospital San Angelo with a broken leg. He was injured Friday afternoon when the horse slipped and fell from a ten foot embankment landing on him. Found at 11 30 p m by Mr Blaylock after he failed to return on time.

Yvonne McCutchen to Receive School Cap
Miss Carolyn Yvonne McCutchen completes nine months of a three year program at Shannon West Texas Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in San Angelo. She will receive the school cap at a Candlelighting Ceremony at San Angelo College Auditorium on June 1, 1962. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin McCutchen and a 1961 Bronte High School graduate.

Bailey Bell Improves After Stroke Near San Angelo
Bailey Bell, who suffered a stroke on a Lake Nosworthy fishing trip, is slightly improved and in St. John’s San Angelo hospital. His daughter says they plan to move him to Bronte Hospital by ambulance, though his left side remains paralyzed. His brother Emory Bell is ill but improving.

Dry weather lingers after missed clouds in Bronte
The Bronte area still needs rain after several good clouds passed this week. West Texas has suffered violent weather the past week with Ballinger nearest to us experiencing strong winds that felled the Hillcrest Theater screen and unroofed buildings, causing additional damage.
