Bronte led by Jim Dan Raughton grabs 35 points 1st in 120 yd high hurdles and 330 yd hurdles. Raughton helps mile relay runner up, Bronte totals 90 points for third behind Jim Ned and Wall. Upcoming meets set at Albany and Monahans with district meet April 9 at Abilene Christian College.

Rites Held for Emmit Caperton 78 in Bronte
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church of Bronte for Emmit L. Caperton 78. He died Sunday morning at his home from a heart attack. Caperton, born January 11, 1897, in the Maverick community, moved to Coke County in 1915 and married Lillian Coleman the same year. He operated a service station in Bronte then became a Chevrolet dealer with his sons, retiring in recent years. Survivors include his wife, three sons, a daughter, a brother, two sisters, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

Welfare Official to Speak to Coke County Seniors
Jackson of the Texas Department of Public Welfare will address the Coke County Senior Citizens Advisory Committee at 10 a.m. March 21 at West Coke County Hospital. He will review financing for a Coke County Nutrition program for the elderly. Advisory chairman Steve Badley invites Coke County, Robert Lee and Bronte officials to attend. Ms. Odene Crawford of San Angelo, CVCOG aging service coordinator, will attend, succeeding Ms. Ellen Brown.
