The community saw about four inches of rain with more on Sunday and Monday plus wind drifted snow. Local church notices include Rev. John Early preaching at Maverick Baptist at 11 am. social visits cover Hortons, Gleghorns, Balkums, Sikes and Holland families. Norton Lions plan a pancake supper March 15 at 5 30 pm.
Tax Assessor Collector O. B. Jacobs says license plate sales are sluggish with about 400 passenger tags sold so far. He notes trucks and other vehicles not counted and expects a pickup as the March 31 deadline nears. Buyers must bring title certificates and 1967 license receipts to the office.
Bronte High School athlete Brin Richards won first in the shot put at Merkel with a 52 feet 11 inch throw and placed second in discus at 142 feet. Bronze track team heads to Eldorado for a marquee West Texas meet. coach Cecil Toliver leads the squad.
Saturday will be busy for Bronte students with the track team traveling to Eldorado for a morning meet, FHA Club members off to an Area IT meeting in Midland, the Longhorn Band marching to Sweetwater for a festival, and the high school golf team driving to Brady for a 1 30 p.m. match. Peggy Corley and roommate Janice Barbatoe, both Texas Tech students in Lubbock, visited Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Corley last weekend in New Orleans.
Bronte Independent School District sets April 6 1968 for electing two board members. Absentee voting runs from April 4 to 20 hours daily at Robert Lee and Bronte areas. Election officers named. notices to be published. official canvass by county authorities planned. Hearts drive postponed due to weather. A S Masterson urges support for heart research starting 6:30 p m.
