Donnah Jeanne Holcombe and Charles Payne of Tulia plan to marry April 27 at First Methodist Church in Bronte. Holcombe is Bronte High School and Angelo State graduate employed by a Tulia abstract company. Payne is Tulia High School graduate who attended South Plains College and West Texas State University and works for a cattle feeding company.
The Win gate Gator Tops Club met March 4 at the Ft. Chadbourne Humble recreation hall. New member Mrs. E. F. Albro joined. Mrs. Wayne Owens is Queen for the month and Mrs. George Cave for the week. Members worked on banners with Mmes. Alpheus Hill, Bill Hamilton, James Williams, and Richard Beck in attendance.
Coke County residents are invited to the District XI meeting of the Texas Association of Health Physical Education and Recreation in San Angelo on March 8 at 2 p.m. A 12:30 p.m. luncheon at Luby's Cafeteria precedes a basketball demonstration and sports clinic at Lee Junior High School. Funeral services for Von K Simpson 68 of Field Creek were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Waldrop Funeral Home Llano. Burial followed in Llano Cemetery. He died Saturday at 12:05 p.m. in a Llano rest home after a long illness. Born November 11 1899 in Llano County he was a lifelong resident and ranchman. Survivors include his wife two sons Harold and Joe Simpson both of Austin a brother a sister and seven grandchildren.
