Oak Creek Lake Swells With Heavy Rainfall
Coke County and surrounding area received heavy rains early Friday with up to 3.50 inches near Blackwell. Oak Creek Lake filled to 15-16 inches, improving the city water supply after months of strain. Rain delayed some small grain harvests but benefited farmers, ranchers, and stockmen with better crop prospects and more time to market livestock. Mountain Creek Lake near Robert Lee rose above spillway for first time since 1957 as two inches fell on its watershed. Hot and humid conditions followed with forecast of more rain.
