Mrs J C Boatright chaired the first year meeting in the Farm Bureau room. Officers and THDA chairwoman J B Arrott led discussions on the Feb 27 planning meeting in Robert Lee. Committees named include Yearbook, Finance, 4 H, E E E, and Recreation with members listed. Secretary read minutes and treasurer reported. Blackwell FFA wins multiple awards at Sweetwater Livestock show
Blackwell FFA students led by sponsor James Jeffrey won several prizes at the Sweetwater Livestock Show in the coliseum. Awards went to Cindy Robertson, Steve Lynn, and Ricky Conrent for various lamb classes. The community faced weather and illness causing meetings to be canceled, with a cancer film rescheduled. Hospitalized residents include George Russell, Mrs. Bertha Wallace, and Mrs. Rockey Thompson. Carl Littlefield's transfer to Stephenville followed a Hendricks Hospital move. Beta Sigma Phi met January 9 with a painted oil program by members. Lana Oden, TWU sophomore, volunteered as a girl scout leader for Denton State School.

Three Men Indicted By Coke Grand Jury
A Coke County grand jury returned three indictments. Bill Brown of San Angelo faces felony theft over 50 dollars for 220 joints of oil field tubing. Charlie Walls of Robert Lee and Alton Wayre Rogers of Blackwell are charged with burglary over 50 dollars for saddle thefts from Elton Millican and Mary A. Reed.

Condemnation Suit Heard This Week At R Lee County Court
Robert Lee County court convenes for an appeal of a nearly one million dollar award in land condemned for the Robert Lee Reservoir. CRMWD challenges the Sept last award to Helen Harris Wilcoxson and others covering 4014 acres in the old John Saul Ranch. A Bronte and Robert Lee jury hears the case with testimony from CRMWD officials and landowners on land and mineral values.

School Assembly January 29 Show Sand Painting
Keith Parr sand artist and Jackie Lester will present a European style sand painting at a school assembly on Monday January 29 at 8 30 am in the school auditorium. The event is sponsored by Southern School Assemblies and billed as an ancient Biblical art used by American Indians. Public invited.
