Jesse Parker announces his bid for Coke County Precinct 2 commissioner as deputy sheriff for nine years. The Bronte resident born in Robert Lee urged precinct voters' support and cited public service, promising fair treatment and a strong job for the county if elected. Parker, a Valley View and Robert Lee alum, has three children and a farming background. He filed ahead of the Democratic Primary in May.
Mr and Mrs Glenn Sims of Waco spent the weekend with his parents Mr and Mrs T F Sims Jr They hosted a birthday dinner with Emma Sims, Mr and Mrs Rayce Hayley of San Angelo, Arvell Williams and Bryant Glenn of Amarillo Also, Mr and Mrs Floyd Mdgling and Mr and Mrs Bob Coffman of Snyder visited relatives in Houston with Mr and Mrs Charles Oliphant and family Charles Robert Oliphant returned to visit his grandparents.
Rebecca Lillian Belcher and Joe Jay Pitman wed at 2 30 pm December 21 at First Baptist Church Odessa. families from Odessa Brady Garden City Andrews Midland and San Angelo gathered for the double ring ceremony. The bride wore Chantilly lace and silk gown with a chapel train and carried a white bridal rose bouquet atop a white Bible borrowed from Mrs Ramsey. The couple, 1969 Andrews High School graduates, reside in San Angelo where both attend Angelo State University. Special guests included grandparents Mr. and Mrs E L Caperton Bronte and Mrs F D Belcher Odessa and Mrs Mary Pitman Santo.
Mrs. H. M. Wirkland spoke on India to the Diversity Club on Thursday night December 18 at the home of Mrs. R. C. Lasswell. Members exchanged Christmas gifts and were served cranberry cream pie party crackers and hot apple cider.
Mr and Mrs R B Buron and family of Richardson spent the Christmas holidays here visiting her parents Mr and Mrs B D Mackey.
