The Bronte Longhorn Band sponsors a Friday car wash from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Owens Gulf Service Station with a $3.00 wash. Band proceeds fund a trip to the Six Flags Band Festival, while members offer pickup and delivery.
Bronte Nursing Home has been notified that its application for membership in the Texas Association of Homes for the Aging TAHA has been accepted. TAHA connects 80 Texas homes and 1 000 nationally, serving over 14 000 aged people, and coordinates with state health and welfare agencies to promote high standards of care.
Bob Jordan presents a display show case to Bronte Nursing Home while First National Bank in Bronte donates 50 dollars to replace the glass with unbreakable safety glass. The display counter will be near the entrance as part of the gift shop for residents handiwork. Leonard Fletcher and volunteers prepare the case for use.
Mrs. E. J. Halamicek received a letter of commendation from national Cub Scout officials for her work at the Cub Scout General Assembly at Philmont Scout Beach Cimarron New Mexico. They highlighted her demonstration of a birdhouse made from a coffee can and her active involvement in Cub Scout reading and work in her unit.
J W McCracken died Thursday April 19 at his Amarillo home. Funeral services are set for 10 a m Saturday at the Blackburn Shaw Chapel on Martin Road in Amarillo with burial at Silverton Cemetery at 2 p m. He was brother to Mrs Oliie Hogue of Blackwell Mrs L C Robbins of Bronte and Mrs Permietta Reed of San Angelo and brother in law to Mrs Helen Kirkland and Mrs Jack Dixon of Bronte.
A worship service will be held in Spanish Friday at 7 30 p m at First Baptist Church Bronte. Cresencio Rodriguez pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Mission Winters will preach. The Runnels Baptist Association Youth Rally will be held Saturday at 7 30 p m at Dmasco Baptist Church.
