Bristol's Great Common School to High School Rise
The speaker recalls Bristol's transformation from a crowded common school to a graded system led by visionary educators. He highlights Rev. Thomas Shepard and others, the creation of an Intermediate and Select school, and the push toward a town high school with curricula including history mathematics and languages. The narrative credits his father as a devoted instructional advocate who fostered text books, a reading library, and community lectures, shaping local education and civic culture.
