The Bristol charter commission plans a petition drive to create a new charter framing group under the updated state home rule law. A seven member panel will seek 518 signatures from eligible Bristolians to trigger a special vote by taxpayers and nominate nine or more candidates for the new commission.
The Detroit Sunday Times profiles Inspector Thomas A. Dwyer head of the Detroit police identification bureau native of Bristol. He earned a citation from Commissioner Eaman after reconstructing a readable fingerprint from burned flesh. He also identified suspects from severely damaged remains including a sewer corpse and a skin graft case involving Roscoe Pitts.
Dwyer and Bristol residents celebrate a new Speedphoto Transceiver method that sends a fingerprint image by telephone and returns the owner’s name from FBI files in about 30 minutes or less. The system now reduces cost from forty dollars to roughly four and a half dollars per print.
