Telephone Co objects to Rhode Island rate order
Francis A. Barrett, Rhode Island General Manager of the Telephone Company, criticizes the Public Utility Administrator’s rate order as inadequate. He says it provides only about 500,000 dollars a year after taxes and fails to cover rising costs since 1949, leaving 17,000 Rhode Island customers waiting for service. He warns earnings will remain too low to attract new capital and that public improvements will be delayed.
