Community Halloween party plans announced in Bristol
The third annual Community Hallowe en Celebration will be sponsored by Kearney Post No 6 American Legion and the Rotary Club with Miss Muriel Ashton as general chairwoman. A youth party will be hosted at the Y M C A while the younger group meets at the Armory. Police Chief Ferrara praised the plan saying it reduces vandalism and provides safe fun for children.

Change in Bay View Avenue Contract Reduces Town Costs
A town council special session authorized changes to the Bay View Avenue project cutting net costs by about 400 dollars. The Romano Construction contract was adjusted to avoid blasting and reduce storm sewer work between Sherry and Thompson avenues. The plan adds asphalt shoulders and gutters, with disposal of 88 feet of 21 inch drain pipe.

Sergeant Harold W Josephson Fatally Injured in Germany
Mrs Daniel F Mahoney of 87 High Street received word that her son Sergeant Harold W Josephson age 26, a WWII veteran and occupation forces member in Austria and Germany, died in Germany on September 22 1947 from a fractured skull and cerebral concussion. He served with the 1st Infantry during WWII in North Africa Sicily Italy and France and earned the Purple Heart and multiple campaign and service medals. Born Providence February 13 1921 he moved to Bristol as a youth and later studied at RI State College before enlisting in 1940. He is survived by his mother a brother Robert of New York and a half-brother Daniel F Mahoney Jr of Bristol. arrangements will be made to return the body.
