Town Clerk John W. Church coordinates draft registration for men aged 21 to 35 in Bristol on October 16. He seeks volunteers with good handwriting and office experience, including multilingual individuals, to staff two registration locations before the single day event precedes transfer to Warren draft board headquarters.
Bristol jumps to an early lead with eight first inning runs and holds on to beat Warren 8-3 at Guiteras Field. Bristol starter Chief Benevides leads a controlled effort as Warren pitcher Tommie McKale struggles in the opening frame.
Bristol Evening School will start Monday October 7 at 7 pm in Andrews School. Registration is Wednesday October 2 from 7 to 8 30 pm at Colt Memorial High School. Courses include Bookkeeping English Short hand Typewriting Food Clothing Office Machines and more with a new National Defence program offering machine shop and sheet metal work to 15 students after entrance tests.
Miss Eleanor Rockwell and Miss Martha Rockwell daughters of Charles B Rockwell Jr of Rockledge return to the Mary C Wheeler School where they are boarding pupils and elected to the boards of The Quill the literary magazine Miss Janice Carr returns as a member of the upper day school and Miss Nancy Pardee joins the junior boarding department at Columbine Hill the school farm.

The second YMCA annual canvass report in Rockwell Hall shows 238 subscriptions totaling 2340 dollars. Division A led with 48 subscriptions for 65 dollars, Division B 15 for 56 dollars, Division C 28 for 92.50, Division D 39 for 111, and Special Gifts 20 for 461 dollars.
Manuel Perry was appointed chair man of a committee to investigate the advisability of purchasing a new home for Bristol Aerie No 953 F O E at a meeting on Wood street last evening. Other committee members are Joseph F. Pannone and Salvador Nunes. Frank Cuomo presided as worthy president.
About 200 people attended the Bristol Willkie for President Club opening at the Hope and State streets headquarters. Charles Eden praised Willkie as best to lead industrial recovery and warned against government monopoly while Edmund Rex urged nonpartisan service to democracy.
At Knights of Columbus Hall Hope Circle of Daughters of Isabella heard Mary Geddes discuss The Spiritual Benefits of the Retreat ahead of its Newport event on October 26 and 27. Rev Michael Ryan joined as a speaker and a shower honored three recent brides.
The Democratic Town Committee plans an organization meeting at the Italo American Club Wednesday at 8 p m. Robert J Anderson will preside and officers to be chosen include chairman secretary and treasurer.
Brayton Eddy state entomology official will speak at the Rotary Club meeting tomorrow noon at the YMCA. The Rotary Bowling League opens Monday evening Sept 30 with six teams announced by chairman James G Carns Jr and includes players in groups A through F with substitutes listed.
