Changes in command at local Coast Guard Depot

Within a week, changes in command at the Coast Guard Depot will occur. Chief Bosun's Mate Ralph Andrews will transfer to Southwest Harbor, Maine, to be relieved by Chief Roman Kreher who commands the 64-foot harbor tug. Chief Norman Pickett will take over the tug and previously led a 95-foot search and rescue boat at Province Town. Kreher has six Antarctic and one Arctic voyage credits. Pickett is a 13-year Navy and Coast Guard veteran from St Louis Missouri.

Council Drops Contractors to Rebuild Beach Rd With Town Equipment

Town council, in its first meeting in the new chambers, rejected all four bids for Beach Rd drainage and road work. The town will undertake the project, as bids exceeded the $25,000 appropriation. Low bid from Grant Construction was $25,636.25 with 24 ft option for $23,336.25. other bids from Caesar Brito, Rego and Sons, and L Romano varied.

Elmer Rounds Appointed Residential Campaign Chief

Open House as Town Hall Renovations Finish

The Burnside Memorial Building completed renovations after about $21,000 in work, funded mainly by a 15 year old $15,000 vault appropriation. An open house is planned for next Wednesday September 24 from 9 am to 9 pm announced Town Clerk Anthony J. Dennis Jr. The project, begun August 11, reduced the treasury by only $6,000.
