Tablet listing 20 clergymen for St Michael's Church is unveiled

Parishioners present a carved tablet naming 20 clergy who served since 1720, spanning 211 years. The plaque to be placed on the west wall will be dedicated soon by Most Rev James DeWolf Perry, it records service dates and assistants through 1931.

Bristol Seeks $200000 Federal Loan for Sewage Plant

The State Advisory board approved forwarding Bristol’s request for a $200,000 federal loan to finish a sewage disposal plant halted in 1931. Bonds offered as security, construction could start by November with about 100 men employed for eight months, funded without new taxes.

Police seek Barboza in assault with weapon warrant

Bristol police search for Manuel Barboza of Thompson Avenue on a private warrant charging assault with a dangerous weapon on John Silva of 117 Bay View Avenue. The fight last Thursday left Silva with deep facial and head wounds. Barboza, a Wood Street barber, has a prior drunken brawl history and was involved in a past ear-biting incident with Manuel Madeiros.

Free Chest Clinic Friday at Rockwell House

A free chest examination clinic is set for Friday at Rockwell House 610 Hope St headquarters of the District Nursing Association. Dr Harry IL Barnes and assistants will oversee physical exams tuberculin tests and X rays as needed to detect early tuberculosis. Little World Series Opener Delayed by Rain

Initial Plans For Armistice Observance Made Last Night

The Armistice Day Observance Committee met at G A R Hall to plan the 15th anniversary of the Armistice. Fred M Straight of Kearney Post 6 was named chief parade marshal. Town officials and storeowners were asked to permit use of the common and fireworks sales to fund events. An Armistice banquet and a ball are planned by Kearney Post. The committee includes Donald Gladue chair, Edward M Kavanaugh vice chair, James Magee secretary, James F Duffy treasurer, and others.
