Plane May Be Secured For High School Aeronautics

School officials report negotiations for a government loaned Basic Trainer and a Primary Trainer for Pre-Flight Aeronautics at the senior high. If obtained, equipment would be stored in a carriage room provided by Russell Colt, with packing and transport costs only. The project is viewed as a forward step in education and air travel.

Wounded in Action North Africa Pfc Cavaliere

The War Department telegrams Mr and Mrs Pomente Cavaliere of 43 Congregational street report their son Pfe Peter Cavaliere has been slightly wounded in action in North Africa. He attended local schools and worked for Aratex before induction. He trains in South Carolina and has served in England and Scotland. His brother Frank is in the Dutch West Indies.

Local businessmen race for War Bond prize

Henry W Pacheco USN Veteran Returns Home from Asiatic Duties

Henry W Pacheco Torpedoman third class USN son of Mrs Irene Pacheco of 252 Woodstreet was home on furlough after service in the Pacific. He earned two battle stars for Asiatic battles including engagements with Japanese Zeros and battleships and returns to duty with the Pacific fleet after a 12 day furlough limited to 48 hours at home. Prior to service he worked for Bristol Manufacturing Corporation.

Bristol Historical Society plans war record compilation

The Bristol Historical Society held its summer meeting with President Alice B Almy presiding. Reginald Dimond was named chairman to compile a war record, aided by Mrs Dimond, who has begun selling War Stamps. Charles O F Thompson reports on town census records from 1774 to 1860. Irene Hardie sang, and plans were discussed to clean and arrange Burnside Memorial Hall.

Bridge Committee Final Meeting Before War Bond Sale

Air Raid Wardens Boost Third War Loan Pledges

Air raid wardens distributed bonds to 3000 families last evening in support of the Third War Loan. Chief Warden B W Wall said 800 more pledges are needed as wardens prepare to restart distributions and collect sealed envelopes next week. The drive aims for about 5800 participants through payroll deductions banks post offices theatres and other channels.

Mrs William P Gladding received a colonial bouquet and a money gift at Mount Hope Chapter No 23 OES meeting from Worthy Matron Ethel M Copeland.
