Mrs. F. M. Dixon reports NRA Consumers' enrollment drive gaining church support in Bristol County. Parishioners are urged to enroll under the Blue Eagle as campaigns continue. Expected total subscribers near 4500 with hopes to reach 100 percent by week’s end.
Arrangements completed for four singles and one doubles match between Newport Y.M.C.A. Juniors and Excelsior Club Juniors. Matches begin Saturday at 2 o clock on the Excelsior courts. Bristol team includes Robert B Fiske Arthur Rae Vernon Otten and Howard Bennett. Doubles pair Fiske and Bennett.
The Bristol Garden Club hosts a Thursday afternoon event at Mrs. B M MacDougall's Bradford Street home. Two classes judge dining table arrangements and living room arrangements with prizes for winners.
Paul Bruno of the Bristol Train of Artillery nine won the Bristol Twilight League MVP honor with 2726 votes. Close pursuer Columbia Bill Doran had 940 votes, while John Foxy Marshall was third with 940, Frank Sousa 133, Tony Baker Perry 132, Marty Biancuzzo 126, and Bill Doran 110.
The engagement of Miss Margaret Nelson of Atlanta to Mr Frederick Williams of this town is announced by her parents Mr and Mrs Henry Philip Nelson. The couple plans a late fall wedding. Nelson, former president of the Junior League of Atlanta, studied at Holton Arms School and is active in music and social clubs. Williams, a Harvard graduate class of 1918, served in World War I as a first lieutenant and is a vestry member of St Michael's Episcopal Church. He also belongs to Agawam Hunt Harvard Club of New York Bristol Yacht Club and Bristol Rotary Club.
A Bristol public hearing is set for 7 30 tonight in the Reynolds School auditorium. The session invites resident suggestions on the town survey for a new school funded by the late Robert D Andrews of New York. Andrews left nearly 140000 to honor his father Robert Shaw Andrews, longtime local superintendent. The survey board includes Francis J Brady chairman, Erik Anderson, C Emanuel Ekstrom, Dr Charles Carroll, and Lucius A Whipple, all linked to state education.
In Bristol Twilight League playoff action Olympians and Bristol Train of Artillery clash as the second of a three game series for the championship. The Olympians lead 1-0 after a 6-4 win in the opener as Biancuzzo LeClerc and Mott hit well. Biancuzzo leaves for Alabama, fairing a setback for Olympians tonight at 6 01 0 SHARP.
The U S Civil Service Commission invites applications for multiple open competitive exams at the Naval Torpedo Station Newport Rhode Island including helper electrican machinist welder and other skilled roles. Applicants are scored on training experience and fitness not written tests. Applications due by September 15 1933 with blanks obtainable at designated post offices or the Torpedo Station Recorder.
Wm. M. Fischer advances to the finals of the Exelsior Tennis Club tournament with a spotless record as he meets O. G. Boynton this afternoon at 2. Krevolin caps women's singles title with 8-6 6-4 victory. several matches cite byes and defaults in earlier rounds.

Priestly beat Florence Otten 6 3 7 5. Helen Church defeated De Wolf by default. Krevolin beat Priestly 6 4 6 4. Finals: Werreshoff and Krevolin beat James de Perry and Palmer 6 0 6 0.
Miss FE Doris Bullock of Guiteras School faculty was elected president of the Ladies Auxiliary Unit of Kearney Post No 6 American Legion at the annual meeting in G A R Hall. Plans were made for the Newport department convention next week. Delegates and officers are listed with Bullock serving in multiple roles.
More than 75 members and guests attended the Ever Ready Engine and Hose Co. annual outing and clam bake at Fales Grove. The single men won major sports honors despite a 2-1 loss to the Benedicts, with events led by captain Louis Cirillo and a committee headed by Arthur Guevremont.
Red Cross Examiner Raymond A. Makowsky will award pins and emblems to seven local junior life savers tomorrow. Six boys and one girl, all Boy and Girl Scouts, include Charles McGinn 12 Maynard Shusman 11 Tevis Shusman 13 Albert Newbold 11 Israel Osofsky 12 Arnold Dryer 13 and Margaret Morris 14.
Joseph M. Edmonds was elected commander of Kearney Post No 6 American Legion, the second Edmonds family member to head the unit since its organization. He succeeds William A. Gablinsky. Albert A. Edmonds previously led the post in 1923 24 and served in Navy service during World War I. Plans outlined for Newport department convention Sept 7 8 9 and support for Charles Wooley for National Vice Commander and B W Wall for National Executive Committeeman.
