More than 2000 sport enthusiasts from nearby towns are expected for the East Warren Rod and Gun Club event at Fales Farm in Bristol on September 10. The day features skeet demonstrations, rifle and revolver expert displays, police team demonstrations led by Patrolman Ray Quinley, fly and ball casting, and a horseshoe pitching tournament with a lineup of noted shooters and exhibitors from Colt Firearms, Remington Arms, and regional champions.

The funeral of Mrs Catherine Murphy died after a long illness was held from her home at 70 Franklin Street. A solemn high mass was observed at St Marys Church and burial took place in St Marys Cemetery. She was 79, born in Bristol, and survived by two daughters Sister Mary Mark and Miss Mary E. Murphy, two sisters Miss Elizabeth Ormond and Mrs. Mary Hamill, and brother James Crowfey of New York.
