First Outboard Crosses Atlantic in Ten Days
A Danish-Swedish-American crew on the 22 foot Coronet Explorer crossed the Atlantic from Copenhagen to New York in 10 days 17 hours covering 3433 miles at an average 163 mph. They weathered storms with seas up to large waves, refueling at sea with the Clary Thorden rescue method, and were assisted by a mother ship in the North Sea and near Newfoundland. The voyage began July 13 from Copenhagen and ended July 24 at the Hudson River Marina.
